Thermal Power
Construction of Coal Fired Thermal Power Stations usually involves execution of the project on Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) methodology.
The thermal power stations generate electricity by burning coal and using heated/superheated steam. Normally - a thermal power station is broadly classified comprising of Boiler - Turbine - Generator(BTG), normally referred as main plant and Balance of Plant (BoP) comprising of auxiliary equipment required to enable the main plant equipment to work successfully. The BoP comprises of packages as Coal Handling Plant, Ash Handling Plant, Wagon-Tippler, Water System (DM Water, Plant Water, Waste Water Treatment, Effluent Treatment etc), Chimney, etc
Usually – all the above major equipments are carved into Packages which are then given out to the specialized agencies on EPC Basis conforming to the norms as set in the contract document.
