Document Control Index - Also Referred as - Master List of Documents, Supplier Master Document List, Master Deliverable List, Supplier Document Schedule
Document Control Index - Normally - at the state of the project - between the owner and the contractor - the list of documents that are to be created and submitted for approval or information are agreed - including the schedule and the physical progress estimation methodology (if applicable.).
This document is commonly referred as the document control index or the master document list. In addition of the list of the documents that are to be submitted to the respective parties, the document control index also tracks the dates on which the documents were submitted, received for comments, target dates for re-submission, delays that has happened in the submission/decision cycle of documents etc.
Document Control Index report - which is one of the most exhaustive reports for controlling the document control process, forms the basis of the Engineering Section MIS Reporting that goes in the Monthly Progress Reports.
Often, during the claim type of situation, the actual data that for the document submissions and delays associated with the review cycles are put back into the project planning software to estimate the overall delay on the project due to the delays in the engineering and forms the basis of the settlement discussion at the end of the project.
